  1. This contest is open to Indian citizens aged 7-12 only. The consent form must be filled by a parent or guardian for the entry to be valid.
  2. The contest is divided between two categories—7-9 year olds and 10-12 year olds. Please clearly indicate on your form which category you are submitting to.
  3. Stories should be between 700 and 800 words. Stories that do not follow this word limit will be disqualified.
  4. The topics for the contest will be announced via email on 10th May, 2026. All stories have to have one of these as the main focus.
  5. The entry fee is Rs. 499/- . Please pay at the time of registration. The Book Baker will not be responsible for any incomplete entries or transactions.
  6. All contest entries must be submitted by 11.59 p.m. on 17th May, 2026 via the Google form shared on email. No competition entries will be accepted after this deadline.
  7. The winners in each category will receive a publishing package worth Rs 33,000. The prize is non-transferable and no money can be claimed in lieu of the prize.
  8. The prize must be availed within 3 months of winning. No exceptions will be made.
  9. All participants will receive an e-certificate of participation and feedback from The Book Baker.
  10. The decision of The Book Baker in regards to the winners will be final. No discussion or correspondence shall be entered into regarding the same.
  11. The stories must be wholly written by the children– any adult guidance or AI usage will lead to disqualification. The submission form will ask all parents/ guardians to attest to the fact that the work has solely been done by the child.
About the Founder

The workshop is led by Smriti, the author of the children’s book “The Dream Seller”.
She obtained her Master’s degree from the London School of Economics. Smriti has been a student and then a teacher of creative writing, speech, and drama with over 10+ years of experience. She has completed two certificates in Creative Writing from Oxford University. Her passion for storytelling is the foundation of this bootcamp and other programs at The Book Baker.

Children between 7 to 12 years can participate.They will be grouped into two categories:

Story Sprouts (7–9 years)
Word Wizards (10–12 years)

Once you register, the topics will be shared via email on 10th May, 2026.
Your child submits their story by 17th May, 2026.
Results will be announced on 5th June, 2026.

Absolutely! Every child receives individual, personalised feedback on their story by professionals to help them improve their writing.

Yes, the entire contest– from topic announcement to submission is conducted online.

Entries will be evaluated based on:

  • Creativity & originality
  • Relevance to the chosen topic 
  • Storytelling
  • Grammar, Spelling and Punctuation 
  • Stories written with adult help or with AI usage will be disqualified.

A Google Form will be provided along with the topics and entries can be submitted until 17th May, 2026.
